Belajar Menulis Dalam Bahasa Inggris. Cara Saya.
Jika konten berbahasa Indonesia tidak sering dihinggapi oleh iklan layanan masyarakat (PSA) milik Google AdSense, saya yakin jumlah pelaku copy-paste di kancah bisnis internet Indonesia tidak sebanyak yg sekarang. Pada kenyataannya, kewajiban secara tidak langsung untuk mampu menulis dalam bahasa dunia ini lah yg menjadi salah satu penyebab pebisnis internet, termasuk AdSenser, mengambil jalan pintas untuk menciptakan konten. Ctrl+C dan Ctrl+V.
Sebenarnya, yg seringkali menjadi kendala adalah ketakutan dari dalam diri kita sendiri bahwa artikel berbahasa Inggris yg kita buat hasilnya tidak baik. Dalam arti, banyak pelanggaran2 terhadap aturan2 tenses, verbs, dan segala tetek bengeknya itu. Daripada salah dan malu, ya mending gak usah menulis aja. Seperti itu mungkin ya.
Faktanya, banyak pengunjung situs yg tidak mempedulikan kesalahan2 penulisan yg ada. Percaya atau tidak, mereka maklum kok apabila yg seharusnya went ditulis dengan gone. Atau do dengan did. Selama poin utama yg ingin kita sampaikan bisa masuk ke otak mereka.
Sekalian keberanian untuk menulis dalam bahasa inggris, kunci utama lainnya adalah kemauan untuk mulai menulis dalam bahasa Inggris. Ini bisa difasihkan dengan kebiasaan untuk ikut berdiskusi di forum2 luar negeri, memberikan komentar di blog bule, atau seperti yg saya sarankan, berkomentar di blog ini dengan berbahasa inggris. Siapa tahu bisa menang high-quality commentator seperti mas Aristianto, hehehe.
Lalu bagaimana cara untuk memulainya?
- Jika sebelumnya melakukan copy-paste, mulailah untuk melakukan modifikasi terlebih dahulu pada konten yg copy-paste sebelum konten tersebut kita publikasikan. Ini bisa dilakukan secara bertahap. Semisal, untuk minggu pertama, kita lakukan modifikasi pada 1/4 bagian dari konten. Periode satu minggu berikutnya, kita memodifikasi 1/2 bagian dari konten. Demikian seterusnya. Dan jangan lupa, ini tidak sulit karena kita hanya perlu untuk mengedit ulang saja.
- Jika sudah terbiasa melakukan modifikasi, tahap berikutnya adalah dengan menulis ulang konten yg biasanya kita copy-paste. Contoh pelaksanaannya bisa saja dengan menggunakan 2 buah jendela Notepad. Jendela 1 berisi konten asli. Jendela 2 berisi halaman kosong. Pada halaman kosong inilah kita mencoba untuk menulis ulang konten asli tersebut, dengan cara dan gaya bahasa kita sendiri.
- Tahap ketiga adalah dengan benar2 menulis keseluruhan artikel dalam bahasa inggris sehingga menjadi konten yg benar2 asli dan orisinil. Misal, kita mengambil referensi mengenai spesifikasi teknis sebuah HP dari situs pembuatanya, dan selanjutnya, kita gunakan informasi spesifikasi tersebut untuk membuat sebuah artikel.
Bagaimana dengan frekuensinya? Tidak masalah, lakukan saja secara bertahap pula. Misalnya, untuk minggu ini, kita lakukan tiga copy-paste dan 1 modikasi artikel. Minggu berikutnya, 2 copy-paste dan 2 modifikasi artikel. Demikian seterusnya.
Pada intinya, yg diharapkan adalah bagaimana kita bisa menghilangkan kebiasaan copy-paste tersebut. Dan sekali lagi, itu semua dimulai dari niat. Dari dalam diri kita sendiri.
Saya? Terus terang, saya butuh mood yg bagus untuk bisa menulis artikel yg benar2 murni orisinil (tahapan tiga di atas). Yang paling sering adalah menggunakan cara kedua. Namun saya punya trik sederhana untuk *memaksa* diri sendiri menulis artikel dari nol, yaitu dengan mencari referensi yg berbahasa non-Inggris, misalnya Jepang atau Korea. Silahkan jika mau ditiru :)

Sopir yang ramah
Pagi ini menghentar family istriku untuk pulang ke kota Blitar, naik kereta api. Kami berangkat pagi2, naik lyn H4W (warna hijau tua), jurusan SEDATI ke stasiun Kereta Api WONOKROMO. Kuperhatikan sang sopir, adalah type karakter yang ramah, karena dia tak segan menyapa orang-orang yang dijumpainya :
"Ayo mass...." (ketemu sopir2 lain, walau beda lyn)
"Mongggooo " (kalau ada penumpang yang naik).
"Kok siang bu?? " (tanya pada penumpang yang dikenalnya)
"Terima kasih...." (kalau diberi uang ongkos bemo / mikrolet)
yah, jarang orang seperti itu. Kalau saja banyak seperti dia, tenang hati ini, walau melihat STIKER PENGUMUMAN TARIFNYA NAIK : JAUH = Rp. 2.900, DEKAT = Rp. 2.500.

Demo lagi??? Oh tidak...
Hari ini, Senin (2/6/08) desas2 desus2nya ada DEMO para sopir angkot lagi. Sebagai pengguna jasa angkot everyday, aku tak mau kecolongan, berangkat pagi, dari rumah jam 5 pagi. Eh, ternyata gak jadi. Yah, itu gara2 BBM naik bbrp hari yl!

Kepala kebentur ANGKOT... ADUHHH!!
Sore, pulang kerja, hari Kamis (22/5/08) kepalaku kebentur dinding ANGKOT (BEMO) yang kunaikki setiap hari... lumayan sakit... ADUHHHH... tapi ya pak supir cuek aje... egp.. (emangnya gue pikirin?).
Beberapa kali memang aku jumpai penumpang yang kurang hati2 kepalanya kena adu dengan pintu BEMO / ANGKOT. Sampai ada tulisan : "AWAS KEPALA..." di beberapa angkot.

Sopir vs Penumpang
Menarik, mengamati kejadian hari ini :
1. Penumpang dengan seenaknya membayar Rp. 2.000 dan sopir mengatakan "Pak, kurang 500 rupiah". Penumpang cuma ngomong : 'NGGAK ADA" trus pergi.
2. Sopir yang sama, menerima bayaran Rp. 5.000 oleh seorang kakek. Padahal mereka bertiga... harusnya kurang Rp. 2.500. Sang sopir menegur, tapi karena orang tua, tidak dengar. So, dia bilang "Yah... yang satu GRATIS dong?"
Itulah, kadang sopir semaunya sendiri, tapi kadang penumpang juga semau gue...
"Sabar ya pak..." hiburku.
